These
helpful hints will assist you to keep your kitchen looking
smart and in first class condition.
All
finishes, doors and laminated surfaces
Streaks
Streaky marks sometimes show on dark colours after cleaning.
E-cloths are the best way to eradicate streaks on shiny surfaces.
Grease
Warm, soapy water is the best way to deal with greasy marks.
Dab, wait and wipe away.
Finish off with an E cloth to bring up the shine.
Spills
All surfaces resist staining from most household chemicals.
With some accidental spills, however, you must take prompt
action. Wipe off beetroot, grape, wine and berry juices, first
aid preparations, concentrated bleach, oven cleaners, dishwasher
detergents and artificial dyes or hair colouring immediately
to prevent ingress into the surface causing dull patches or
staining.
Scratches
Laminated surfaces will withstand normal wear and tear, but
can be damaged by scratching or cutting with utensils, knives
and unglazed pottery. Darker colours will show scratches more
readily than lighter colours. This is an inherent feature
of the product, not a fault.
Moisture
Water won't harm the surfaces, but it may affect the adhesive
and core materials underneath if it is excessive. Therefore,
remove any excess moisture to stop it seeping into joints
or running down cupboard doors.
Very important!!
Don't use scourers, abrasives or glass cleaners as they will
cause damage to the surface and edgings. When choosing any
cleaning materials ensure that they do not contain thinners,
turpentine, acetone or bleach.

Laminated Worktops
Cleaning
up couldn't be easier. Most spills simply wipe away with a damp
cloth. Rubbing gently with a clean dry cloth brings back the brightness,
an E cloth is the best way to bring back the shine without using
any chemicals at all. With a few sensible precautions your laminated
surface will stay looking good for years.
VERY
IMPORTANT Excess or standing water can damage your laminate
worktops, especially over a join. If you have a dishwasher under
a worktop, please ensure that the drying cycle has completely finished
before opening the appliance. If you do open the door and see steam
escaping, it is imperative that you wipe the underside of the worktop
with a dry cloth immediately to remove the water. Repeated occurrences
will almost certainly result in damage, which is not covered under
your warranty.
Although
your work surface is very hard wearing, it is not to be used as
a cutting surface for food preparation. Keep your worktop in top
condition by using a chopping board.
Glass
cleaners should not be used on your worktops because they contain
ammonia, which as a solvent, damages the worktop and shelf edgings
and even the platings on your handles.
Don't
place pots or pans straight from the hob or oven directly onto your
worktop - use a chopping board or trivet instead.
Don't
use waxes or polishes on laminated surfaces as they will dull the
surface.
Check
with the manufacturer of cleaning agents before using on any surfaces.
Wall and base units
The
cleaning and care of these items is the same as for all surfaces,
see above. Additional care needs to be taken to ensure that water
or condensation, if present, is not allowed to stand. This will
result in damage to the panels, which would not be covered under
your guarantee.
Don't
operate electrical appliances such as a kettle or toaster under
wall cupboards. Instead bring the appliances forward to allow the
steam to escape.
Polyurethane doors
Care
instructions are compiled by the European Association of Manufacturers
of Foil-Coated Furniture Fronts (EFM) in co-operation with the Manufacturers
of Synthetic Surfaces. (extract)
In order to imitate the warm feel and low reflection of waxed or
stained natural wood the surface or this laminated furniture front
has been coated with a special PUR (polyurethane) varnish. Single-colour
surfaces also have been treated with this varnish. The varnish is
cross-linked and this offers excellent resistance to abrasion as
well as being crack and scratch resistant.
Coffee
and tea stains if allowed to dry will leave a slight discoloration
on the laminate. Please wipe clear immediately.
Polyurethane
surfaces will withstand normal wear and tear, but can be damaged
by scratching. Darker colours will show scratches more readily than
lighter colours.
Do
not use pressure washers or thermal cleaning equipment on your furniture
fronts. Excessive heat will adversely affect the surface structure
of the furniture fronts.
Do
not use wood care products or polishes on polyurethane surfaces
. These products may cause bulging within the surface or delamination
(detachment of the edges) as the glue layers swell.
When
operating the oven please ensure its doors are shut properly since
the escaping hot air, which is often at more than 200 degrees C,
could burn any surrounding wooden materials.
Please
make sure electric kettles or coffee makers are not placed directly
underneath any furniture front. Escaping hot steam will damage the
surface and may lead to swelling.
Timber doors
Solid
wood doors age and mature over the years, colour variation and shade
change is an inherent feature of this type of door and is not a
fault. The degree of colour change is purely dependant on the amount
and intensity of light in your kitchen, as a natural product this
change should be expected and embraced as it adds to the beauty
of your kitchen.
Don't
use bleach, abrasives or glass cleaners as they will damage the
finish. When choosing any cleaning materials ensure that they do
not contain thinners, turpentine, acetone or bleach.
Wipe
over with a damp cloth with a small amount of detergent.
Clean
up spills immediately, especially involving stain-causing liquids
such as beetroot, berry juices, wine, bleach, oven cleaners, dishwasher
detergents and artificial dyes, etc. Prompt action will safeguard
your doors from stains and keep your kitchen looking tip top for
many years.
Do
not use pressure washers or thermal cleaning equipment on your furniture
fronts. Excessive heat will adversely affect the surface structure
of the furniture fronts.
Please
make sure electric kettles or coffee makers are not placed directly
underneath any furniture front. Escaping hot steam will damage the
surface and may lead to swelling.
Thank you for choosing Mulberry and we hope you get many years of
happiness and service from your new kitchen.
