Mr & Mrs F, East Yorkshire

Our clients this month are a very private and successful young couple from East Yorkshire who have completed a delightful conversion of this period coach house. As the public rooms favour the use of oak, it was fitting that this be carried forward into the kitchen area.

Richard and Rachel chose an oak shaker-style door with a very elegant tapered cornice to compliment the angles created by their unusual ceiling which is lowered in the centre and slopes upward in either side to meet the walls in an acute angle. We utilised this to accommodate down-lighting and to "frame" symmetrically the display area with its contrasting Devon Cream dressers. The studio height doors in the centre hide the side by side integrated fridge and freezer whilst creating an alcove above.

The made to measure cabinets have been topped in Star Galaxy black granite with matching upstands and window sill and, when viewed with the stunning honed - slate floor tiles by Fired Earth, provide an overall impression of timeless quality.

The appliance list includes a range cooker and extractor by Britannia with the integrated refrigeration, dishwasher and washing machine by Neff. The undermounted sinks are in white ceramic and are courtesy of Kohler of America.
